Balochistan cabinet condemns Afghan aggression, approves major reforms

QUETTA, Oct 16 (APP): The Balochistan Provincial Cabinet, in its 19th session chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, strongly condemned recent Afghan aggression along the border and expressed full confidence in the Pakistan Army’s timely and professional response.
The cabinet paid tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives in defense of the homeland.
The cabinet meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, the session resulted in the approval of a wide array of policy decisions and legislative measures spanning governance, security, social welfare, and economic development.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti delivered a pointed message regarding Pak-Afghan relations, adding that successive Afghan governments have maintained a consistently hostile posture since 1947, despite Pakistan’s decades-long hospitality toward Afghan refugees.
“In return for our generosity, we have received enmity instead of gratitude,” Sarfraz Bugti remarked.
He reaffirmed the provincial government’s full commitment to implementing the federal government’s decision on the repatriation of Afghan refugees.
The cabinet approved several key reforms aimed at strengthening administrative authority and public safety.
The cabinet approved amendments in Section 144 Amendments, the new provisions allow Deputy Commissioners to impose prohibitory orders for 30 days, Commissioners for 60 days, and the Additional Chief Secretary for Home Affairs for up to 90 days.
A Specialized units will be established to register and investigate cases of sexual exploitation.
The cabinet approved the establishment of the Women’s Safety Force, a dedicated force will provide immediate assistance and legal support to women facing harassment.
The Balochistan Control of Narcotics Substance Bill 2025 was passed to enhance enforcement, prevention, and rehabilitation efforts.
The cabinet greenlit several initiatives aimed at sustainable growth and public welfare of economic, environmental, and social development initiatives.
The Mines and Minerals sector was granted ‘Industry’ status to attract investment and accelerate resource development.
A new framework was approved to ensure transparent and sustainable use of government land.
A bill was passed to establish a system for addressing the concerns of  residents of Balochistan living abroad.
Approval was granted to expand mangrove coverage for coastal protection and climate resilience.
A committee led by Minister Mir Zahoor Buledi will finalize recommendations under the proposed Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture Bill.
Financial support was approved to implement the province’s Youth Policy.
CM Bugti commended the successful organization of major events.
He congratulated Advisor for Sports and Youth Affairs Meena Majeed Baloch and her team for the National Youth Summit.
Sarfraz praised Parliamentary Secretary Nawabzada Zareen Khan Magsi for the Cultural and Tourism Festival held in Islamabad.
Additionally, the cabinet approved the establishment of a Journalist Colony for members of the Gwadar Press Club to improve housing facilities for the media community.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti reaffirmed the government’s dedication to public welfare, transparent governance, and institutional reform.
“These cabinet decisions reflect our commitment to a brighter future, stronger governance, and renewed public trust in Balochistan,” he added.
