LODHRAN, Oct 27 (APP):The balloting for Green Tractors Scheme would be held on November 1, Friday in the district, under which 241 tractors would be provided to farmers possessing 1 to 50 acres of land.
Talking to APP here on Sunday, Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension) Lodhran
Malik Zafar said that the department had received 27,000 applications from farmers
across the district by October 10, 2024.
He said that a subsidy of Rs 1 million would be given on each tractor to eligible farmers.
He said the distribution of Punjab government’s Kisan cards process was also underway
as 9,600 cards had so far been distributed. Malik Zafar further informed that 21,659 Kisan
cards would be given to farmers so that they would be able to purchase agriculture inputs
like pesticides, fertilizer, seeds and others from registered vendors.
He said that three card distribution centers had been set up at Tehsil level, from where
farmers could get their cards.
The agriculture official further said that they had received 12,149 cards while 2,549 cards
were with the Bank of Punjab from where growers could get cards.
He hoped that the revolutionary projects initiated by the Punjab government would be
helpful to boost agriculture sector across the province.
