LAHORE, Oct 29 (APP):Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has accused the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government of rampant corruption, claiming that development projects in the province only begin after the “shares of corruption” are decided.
In a strongly worded statement on Wednesday , Azma Bokhari said the Rs 40 billion Kohistan corruption scandal was a glaring example of the false claims of transparency made by the KP government.
Reacting to a statement by Barrister Saif, the minister highlighted that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had launched 80 development projects within just one year, of which more than 50 have already been completed with complete transparency.
“No one can raise a finger at any project initiated by Maryam Nawaz,” Bokhari asserted, adding that all development works in Punjab are based on merit, transparency, and public service.
She further alleged that even before the formation of the new cabinet in KP, bids were being placed for ministerial portfolios, with reports suggesting that the price for “good ministries” ranged between Rs 700 million and Rs 1 billion. “If people buy their ministries with money, how can they possibly avoid corruption later?” she questioned.
Azma Bokhari also criticized KP leaders for taking credit for initiatives originally envisioned by Nawaz Sharif, such as the ‘Sehat Card,’ while accusing others of “copy-paste politics.”
Concluding her remarks, she said that while the Punjab government, under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, was advancing on an agenda of public service, the political bidding and commission culture in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had buried all claims of progress.
