BAHAWALPUR, Feb 25 (APP): Under the Suthra Punjab vision and anti-littering campaign of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Bahawalpur Waste Management Company (BWMC) organised an awareness walk to promote cleanliness and environmental responsibility among citizens.
The walk was led by Senior Manager Operations Muhammad Imtiaz-Ullah, with active participation from company staff, sanitary workers, and representatives of civil society. The awareness walk commenced from Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Chowk and concluded at Ahmedpuri Gate Bazaar. During the walk, participants carried banners bearing messages encouraging citizens to adopt clean habits and dispose of waste at designated locations.
At the conclusion of the walk, Senior Manager Operations Muhammad Imtiaz Ullah distributed awareness pamphlets among shopkeepers and urged them to properly pack their waste and hand it over to BWMC staff to help keep the city clean. He further warned that legal action would be taken against individuals found littering in public places, adding that fines ranging from Rs. 100,000 to Rs. 700,000 may be imposed under the law. Reiterating the commitment of BWMC, he stated that with public cooperation under the Suthra Punjab campaign, Bahawalpur will be transformed into a clean, healthy, and beautiful city.
