FAISALABAD, Jul 29 (APP):Children Hospital Faisalabad organized an awareness walk here on Tuesday to mark World Hepatitis Day.
Former state minister Hajji Akram Ansari led the walk while Medical Superintendent (MS) Children Hospital Dr. Mian Amir Naveed and Dr. Nagina Shehzadi were also present on the occasion.
People belonging to various walks of life including medical and paramedical staff of the hospital participated in the walk. They were holding banners and placards inscribed with various slogans for educating the public about the dangers of hepatitis.
Speaking on the occasion, Hajji Akram Ansari termed hepatitis a “silent killer” and said that it has claimed thousands of lives due to late detection. He stressed an urgent need to raise public awareness to curb the spread of this deadly disease. Dr. Mian Amir Naveed said that the hospital not only provides awareness to children and their parents about hepatitis but also offers screening and treatment facilities.
Under the guidance of the Punjab government and the health department, preventive efforts against hepatitis are being implemented at all levels, he added.
Dr. Nagina Shehzadi underlined the importance of prevention and said that early diagnosis in children can save lives. She urged parents to ensure their children receive hepatitis vaccinations and strictly follow hygiene practices to protect their families.
Later, pamphlets were also distributed among the attendees to create awareness within the community.
