KARACHI, Oct 07 (APP):The Karachi University Teachers’ Society and the Karachi University Officers Welfare Association jointly organized an informative seminar titled “Impacts of Income Tax Filing and Amendments in Pension Rules” at the Karachi University Business School Auditorium on Tuesday.
The keynote speaker, Accounts Officer from Accountant General Sindh Tayyab Ali Ghori emphasized the legal and economic significance of filing tax returns.
He reminded attendees that submitting tax returns is a civic duty for every responsible citizen.
He clarified that in Pakistan, individuals whose annual income exceeds the prescribed threshold are legally required to file income tax returns.
Tayyab Ghori also provided a detailed presentation of the filing process, necessary documentation, use of the online portal, and submission deadlines.
Addressing the seminar, he appreciated the initiative taken by the KUTS and KUOWA, noting that such sessions play a vital role in enhancing financial literacy among university staff.
The seminar saw a large turnout of faculty members, administrative officers, and other university personnel.
Earlier, Amanullah Khan Madsar from the KU’s Pension Section shed light on the recent amendments in pension rules.
He explained the financial and legal implications these changes may have on government employees, especially university staff.
On this occasion, the President KUTS Dr Mohsin Ali stated that organizing a seminar on the recent changes in income tax and pension regulations was a timely and much-needed step.
He added that such educational programs not only inform faculty and officers about current laws but also help them navigate practical challenges in implementation.
The President KUOWA Dr Syed Faisal Hashmi reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to organizing more informative events in the future to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of knowledge to university officers.
The seminar concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where Tayyab Ali Ghori and other speakers responded to participants’ queries with clarity and assurance.
Faculty members and officers expressed their gratitude to the organizers for arranging such a valuable session and strongly recommended that similar awareness programs be held regularly.
