Awareness campaign, enforcement drive launched against vaping in Murree
RAWALPINDI, Aug 24 (APP):In line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister and the Director General, Punjab Counter Narcotics Force CNF, the Narcotics Control Station Murree has launched an awareness campaign to protect young people from the growing trend of drug use, vaping and flavoured cigarettes.
As part of the campaign, a team of the Narcotics Control Station visited several educational institutions in Murree. During briefings, school principals expressed serious concern over the increasing use of vapes and flavoured cigarettes among students.
They said these products were easily available at local shops and posed serious risks to the physical and mental health of young people.
In view of the need to protect students’ future, the Director of the Narcotics Control Station Murree conducted surprise inspections of shops located along Mall Road and Cart Road. During the inspections, a large quantity of vapes, flavours and prohibited cigarettes was recovered and taken into custody.
The shopkeepers involved were issued strict warnings and cautioned that any further violation would result in legal action.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Murree took immediate notice of the matter and directed the relevant PERA authorities to take prompt action against shopkeepers involved in the sale of such products and seal their outlets.
Officials said that, on the special directions of the Punjab Chief Minister, the sale of vapes and flavoured cigarettes has been completely banned across the province.
A spokesperson for the Narcotics Control Station Murree said the department would continue its awareness campaign and enforcement operations without interruption to protect the younger generation from the menace of drugs and other harmful substances
