LAHORE, Jul 25 (APP):Two different anti-terrorism courts (ATCs) on Friday extended the interim pre-arrest bail of former foreign minister and senior PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi until September 19 in seven separate cases linked to the May 9 violence.
The cases include attacks on Jinnah House and Askari Tower, arson at the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) office, and the burning of containers at Kalma Chowk.
ATC Judge Arshad Javed heard Qureshi’s bail applications in five of the cases. During the proceedings, the court was presented with his jail warrant documents. After hearing the arguments, the court granted an extension in his interim bail until the next hearing.
In the remaining two cases — related to the Jinnah House and Askari Tower incidents — ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill presided over the hearing. The judge directed Qureshi’s legal team to present arguments at the next scheduled hearing.
All seven bail petitions were initially filed before Qureshi’s arrest. While his bails were earlier dismissed due to his detention, they were later reinstated following orders from the Lahore High Court.
