LAHORE, Feb 24 (APP): An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday acquitted four police officials in a kidnapping-for-ransom case involving a trader from Misri Shah, after the complainant withdrew his allegations.
The acquitted officials – Zeeshan Haider, Yawar Abbas, Farooq-ul-Hassan and Shahid Farooq – had been nominated as accused in the case. They were charged with abducting trader Muhammad Nadeem and allegedly receiving Rs 2.5 million as ransom.
During the hearing, complainant Muhammad Nadeem retracted his earlier statement, telling the court that the accused were not responsible and raising no objection to their acquittal.
Advocate Muhammad Salman Shahid represented the accused.
The proceedings were conducted by Judge Arshad Javed. The case had been registered at Harbanspura Police Station under kidnapping-for-ransom charges.
