FAISALABAD, Jul 17 (APP):Provincial Minister for Information Azma Bukhari said that Ashura Muharram-ul-Haraam was observed peacefully as the government has ensured tight security arrangements for mourning processions and majalis.
Talking to media persons during her visit to the route of the main mourning procession at Clock Tower Chowk here on Wednesday, she said that Youm-e-Ashura teaches us to promote patience, tranquility,and brotherhood among all ranks of society in addition to extending sacrifice for the cause of Islam.
She said that the government had devised a comprehensive strategy for the peaceful observance of Ashura Muharram-ul-Haraam and in this connection; mourning processions were on their routes peacefully.
She said that the government had also arranged Muharram camps where Langar (free food and sweet cold beverage) was being distributed among the participants of mourning processions and other people.
She also appreciated the role of law enforcement agencies including police and paid tribute to their service in maintaining law & order during Ashura Muharram-ul-Haraam.
Provincial Minister for Local Government & Community Development Zeeshan Rafique also talked to the media and appreciated the role of peace committees.
He said that Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Maryam Nawaz was monitoring Muharram arrangements positively and she assigned the task to his cabinet for ensuring peace and tranquility in all districts of the province.
He also appreciated the role of religious leaders of all sects in maintaining inter-faith religious harmony and said that this practice should also continue throughout the year.
