MUZAFFARGARH, Jun 22 (APP):Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman and Prime Minister’s Coordinator Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi Monday called for strict enforcement of the national peace message committee’s code of conduct during Muharram-ul-Haram, warning that troublemakers would be dealt with an iron hand.
Addressing a seminar titled “Establishment of Peace and Interfaith Harmony during Muharram-ul-Haram” at Jamia Abdullah bin Masood seminary in Nawab Town, Ashrafi said scholars from all schools of thought had agreed to maintain peaceful and tolerant atmosphere during the sacred month.
He said the purpose of his visit was to strengthen inter-sectarian harmony during Muharram, adding that the jurisdiction of national peace message committees would be extended to district and tehsil levels.
On regional affairs, he said Pakistan had achieved success both at the defence and international levels, maintaining that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir had played a key role in bringing the United States and Iran to the negotiating table.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the cause of Kashmir, Palestine and Gaza, saying the country would not abandon those struggling for their rights.
Speakers including Maulana Muhammad Abdul Mabood Azad, Rana Muhammad Afzal and Qari Nazir Ahmed also addressed the seminar, which was attended by a large number of scholars from across the region.
