APS Martyrs’ 11th anniversary observed at Governor’s House

PESHAWAR, Dec 16 (APP):Quran Khwani and a special prayer ceremony were held at Governor’s House, Peshawar, on Tuesday to mark the 11th anniversary of the martyrs of Army Public School (APS) Peshawar.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi attended the ceremony along with members of the Provincial Assembly, Arbab Usman Khan, Nisar Baz, Ijaz Khan, Muhammad Jalal and Gopal Singh, Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Society KP Farzand Wazir, parents of the martyrs, political and social figures, as well as students and teachers of Army Public School.
Chief Khateeb Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Maulana Tayyab Qureshi led the concluding prayers after the completion of the Holy Quran, praying for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks, peace and stability in the country, national development and prosperity, and rainfall of mercy.
The Governor and other participants laid floral wreaths at the APS Martyrs’ Memorial in Governor’s House and lit candles in remembrance of the martyrs.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi paid rich tribute to the APS martyrs, describing the tragedy as one of the most painful and unforgettable incidents in the country’s history.
He said the supreme sacrifices of the innocent martyrs gave the nation a message of unity and courage, adding that their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism would never go in vain.
The Governor said that the security situation in the province had again become challenging, but praised the security forces for successfully foiling a terrorist attack on a cadet college and saving the lives of children.
He reaffirmed that security forces were bravely fighting terrorism and that the government stood shoulder to shoulder with its personnel.
He emphasized that all possible measures would be taken to ensure peace in the province and protect innocent lives, reiterating the collective resolve to make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a peaceful and developed province.
