SIALKOT, Oct 25 (APP): An anti-smog cell has been established at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Sialkot to address public complaints and coordinate efforts to combat environmental pollution.
The initiative aims to strengthen district-level action against smog and promote public awareness.
Addressing participants in a smog awareness walk, Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali said the step was taken following the Punjab chief minister’s directives under the province-wide smog emergency to safeguard public health. She said citizens could register pollution-related complaints by calling the 1718 helpline for immediate action by the district administration.
The DC said regular air quality monitoring is underway, and strict action will be taken against those involved in burning crop residue, garbage, or emitting smoke from vehicles, factories, and brick kilns.
She urged citizens to actively participate in tree plantation and adopt environment-friendly practices to reduce smog risks.
