RAWALPINDI, Oct 15 (APP): The anti-polio campaign continued for the third consecutive day on Wednesday across the Rawalpindi Division, with over 448,000 children under the age of five vaccinated during the first two days of the drive.
Chairing a review meeting, Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Aamir Khattak directed all departments to maintain close coordination and ensure that no eligible child was left unvaccinated.
The meeting reviewed the progress of the ongoing province-wide campaign and discussed the strategy for the remaining days. Health officials briefed the commissioner that vaccination teams were visiting door to door across all districts of the division to administer the polio drops.
Engineer Khattak instructed the district administrations to directly monitor the campaign and submit daily performance reports, emphasising that any problem faced by the field teams must be resolved without delay.
He said that despite remarkable progress, the circulation of the virus still posed a threat, adding that negligence or complacency during the campaign would not be tolerated. “Eradicating polio is a national duty that demands collective responsibility and unwavering commitment,” he added.
The commissioner also appealed to parents to fully cooperate with vaccination teams and ensure that their children receive the polio drops to secure a healthy, disease-free future.
Deputy commissioners, chief executive officers (Health), and district officers of the Pakistan Polio Eradication Programme attended the meeting.
