Anti-polio crash drive set to launch across Rawalpindi from Oct 5

RAWALPINDI, Oct 03 (APP):Public health authorities in Rawalpindi will launch a week-long Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) crash campaign from October 5 to 12 across City, Cantonment, Rural and Taxila zones to vaccinate missed and zero-dose children, following a post-campaign review meeting on Saturday.
Chairing the evaluation session at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rawalpindi Captain (r) Nadeem Nasir instructed field teams to mobilize immediately for the upcoming drive to achieve 100 percent coverage among vulnerable children.
Reviewing performance metrics from the September anti-polio drive, health officials briefed the meeting that field workers successfully administered oral polio drops to 674,937 targeted children under the micro-plan, achieving nearly 98 percent coverage, while 227,192 children were vaccinated at transit points and public locations.
The briefing highlighted that persistent field outreach resolved 1,614 out of 1,841 initial parental refusals and successfully vaccinated 2,068 out of 2,537 identified zero-dose children across the district.
Emphasizing that complete eradication remains a national priority, DC urged public health officers, World Health Organization (WHO) representatives and municipal stakeholders to maintain strict surveillance and data verification ahead of the October 5 crash campaign, ensuring no child is left unimmunized across any urban or rural pocket.
