Anti-dengue measures across 1,857 hotspots reviewed

BAHAWALPUR, Nov 28 (APP): Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Tayyab has said that dengue is a serious public health issue, and citizens must adopt preventive measures to ensure the success of government efforts.
He ordered strict departmental action against those involved in submitting bogus anti-dengue activity reports. Presiding over a review meeting of the District Emergency Response Committee on dengue control at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, he directed the heads of all district departments to conduct strict monitoring of 1,857 identified dengue hotspots across the district.
He informed the meeting that vector surveillance is being regularly carried out at 413 hotspots in Tehsil Ahmedpur East, 608 in Bahawalpur City, 223 in Bahawalpur Sadar, 234 in Hasilpur, 119 in Khairpur Tamewali, and 260 in Yazman. He warned vector surveillance teams that negligence or laxity in dengue-control operations would lead to strict departmental action. Officials from concened departments were present at the meeting.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that effective dengue control requires coordinated efforts between the district administration and the public. He stressed that strict legal action will be taken if dengue larvae are found at public places. Citizens must ensure anti-dengue practices at home, including installing protective nets on doors, windows, and ventilators to prevent mosquito entry. He directed the Health Department to ensure special care and timely treatment for all suspected dengue patients. He added that every department must strictly follow SOPs, and all available resources will be fully utilized to control the spread of dengue. The meeting also reviewed in detail the preventive and operational measures taken by various departments to combat dengue.
