Anti-adulteration drive intensified in Dera Ismail Khan during Ramazan

Dera Ismail Khan , Feb 21 (APP):The district administration of Dera Ismail Khan, acting on the directives of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has intensified its crackdown against adulteration and substandard food items to ensure the provision of quality and safe edibles to citizens during the holy month of Ramazan.
The joint operation was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Iftikhar Ahmad, accompanied by officials of the Halal Food Authority and veterinary doctors from the Livestock Department. The inspection drive began at Sehri time to effectively monitor food supplies entering the district.
During the operation, milk tankers arriving from Punjab, particularly from riverine (Katcha) areas, along with other edible items, were thoroughly checked. Around 22,000 litres of milk, 800 kilograms of meat, 400 kilograms of pops and 100 litres of juice were inspected.
Officials said that although the chemical analysis of milk samples was found satisfactory, instances of water adulteration were detected. A total fine of Rs88,000 was imposed on the violators, while those responsible were issued strict warnings.
Non-standard and suspicious food items were confiscated on the spot. The meat was declared fit for consumption; however, a vehicle owner was fined Rs30,000 for violating prescribed standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to transportation and packaging.
The district administration reiterated its resolve to continue indiscriminate action against adulteration and violations of food safety regulations, emphasizing that no compromise would be made on public health and safety during Ramazan.
