RAWALPINDI, Jan 20 (APP):The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested six suspects and seized as many as 2,301.8 kilograms of narcotics in five operations conducted near educational institutions in several cities across the country, an ANF spokesperson said on Tuesday.
The spokesperson said the operations led to the recovery of drugs worth more than Rs 341.9 million.
In Karachi, 3.6 kg of hashish and 1 kg of opium were seized from an accused near a university in Qayyumabad. The suspect confessed to supplying drugs to students.
In Islamabad, ANF teams recovered 19.2 kg of hashish from a vehicle near the Motorway Toll Plaza, arresting two suspects, while another 4.4 kg of hashish was seized from a vehicle near Motorway Link Road, leading to the arrest of two more suspects.
In Kohat, 9.6 kg of opium was recovered from a vehicle near the Indus Highway, and the suspect was taken into custody.
In a separate operation in Nokundi, Balochistan, ANF seized 2,242 kg of opium, 20 kg of heroin and 2 kg of methamphetamine.
Cases have been registered under the Narcotics Control Act, 1997, and investigations are underway, the spokesperson added.
