ANF seizes 242.9kg of drugs in nationwide crackdown, 18 held
RAWALPINDI, Sep 11 (APP):Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has intensified its crackdown against drug trafficking, conducting eight operations across various cities and arresting 18 drug suppliers, including a woman.
According to ANF spokesperson, the operations resulted in the seizure of 242.9 kilograms of narcotics with the total value of the confiscated drugs estimated at more than Rs14.5 million.
In separate international drug interdiction operations, ANF officials at Lahore Airport recovered 2.598kg of ice concealed in two shampoo bottles from the baggage of a man and a woman travelling to Jeddah.
At Multan Airport, authorities recovered another 2.5kg of ice soaked into clothes found in the baggage of a passenger travelling to Saudi Arabia.
In inter-provincial operations, ANF personnel near Sahianwala Toll Plaza in Faisalabad intercepted a truck and recovered 60kg of hashish, arresting one suspect.
Near the Motorway Toll Plaza in Islamabad, officials recovered a combined 60kg of hashish from two vehicles and arrested seven suspects.
In domestic interdiction operations, ANF recovered 45.6kg of hashish from a vehicle near an expressway in Islamabad and arrested two individuals.
In Karachi, officials seized 5kg of hashish from an accused near Sohrab Goth. In another operation near a mill on GT Road, Rawalpindi, authorities recovered 4.8kg of hashish from two vehicles and arrested four suspects.
Meanwhile, ANF personnel raided a warehouse on Jinnah Road, Karachi, recovering 208,000 Lexotanil tablets weighing 62.4kg.
Cases have been registered against the arrested suspects under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act (CNSA), 1997, and further investigations are underway.
