LAHORE, Oct 2 (APP):Dr Muhammad Amjad Saqib, founder of Akhuwat — a pioneering organisation committed to eradicating poverty in Pakistan — has been awarded the inaugural Global Edhi Award during a ceremony held in London.
According to Akhuwat sources, the Global Edhi Award was introduced this year to honour the enduring legacy of Pakistan’s most revered humanitarian, the late Abdul Sattar Edhi, and to further promote his mission of serving humanity. The award was launched with the formal approval of Faisal Edhi and the Edhi family.
The Edhi Foundation, recognised globally for its tireless service to marginalised communities, operates a wide network of humanitarian services. These include orphanages, shelters for abandoned and differently-abled children, safe homes for abused women, maternity and family planning centers, training institutes for nurses, blood banks, a tuberculosis clinic, and a tumor hospital.
The recognition of Dr. Saqib underscores the shared vision of Akhuwat and the Edhi Foundation in alleviating human suffering and promoting dignity for all.
