QUETTA, Oct 21 (APP):Secretary Population Balochistan Zafar Ali Buledi and others speakers said that all stakeholders need to work together to control the growing population rate in Pakistan.
They said that Pakistan is becoming the fourth fastest growing country in the world. If the population continues to grow at this rate, the country’s population would double in the next 22 years.
They expressed these views while addressing a one-day workshop on the Public-Private Plus Model at private Hotel here.
The speakers including Technical Specialist (SRH) of UNFPA Islamabad Dr. Jamil Ahmed, Director General Population Welfare Department Ghulam Mustafa, Divisional Director PWD Quetta Abdul Sattar Shahwani, Program Coordinator of UNFPA Balochistan Sadia Atta addressed at the workshop.
The speakers said that in 2050, Pakistan’s population would reach 358 million, the use of family planning in the country is only 19.8 percent, while 298 maternal deaths occur out of every 100,000. All stakeholders need to work together to control the growing population rate in Pakistan.
They said that Pakistan and especially Maternal mortality rate in Balochistan is very high, which the Population Department, Health Department, UNFPA and other stakeholders should work together to control.
The speakers said that the Population Department, UNFPA, along with other stakeholders, is training doctors, paramedics and employees of the Population Department so that the maternal mortality rate could be reduced as much as possible.
They said that the population of Pakistan is increasing day by day, which is creating many problems and this also has a negative impact on the health of the mother and the child, we should definitely have a gap of at least three years between giving birth, for which there is a need to work on family planning projects.
They said that the Population Department, Health Department Balochistan, UNFPA are working together to create awareness among the people about family planning and all facilities are being provided to those who are doing family planning.
They noted that the purpose of today’s training is to train doctors, paramedics, gynecologists and staff of the Social Welfare Department and send them to rural areas so that they can educate people about family planning.
