SARGODHA, Jan 02 (APP):Punjab Minister for Communication and Works Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bherth on Friday said that the provincial government was providing all possible resources to further strengthen the child protection system, ensuring a safe, peaceful, and dignified environment for children.
He expressed these views while addressing inauguration ceremony of Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CP&WB) institute in Sargodha where CP&WB Chairperson Sarah Ahmed, MPAs, members of the Board of Governors, Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Captain (R) Muhammad Waseem and representatives of various departments were present.
The minister expressed his appreciation for the establishment of the Child Protection Institute in Sargodha and lauded the role of the CP&WB as an effective institution working for the protection of children across Punjab.
He said that under the leadership of Sarah Ahmed, the bureau has taken significant steps for safeguarding children’s rights and welfare.
He reaffirmed the government’s full support for the Bureau and its efforts to rehabilitate and protect children who are victims of abuse, exploitation, and violence.
Speaking on the occasion, the CP&WB Chairperson said that with the support of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Child Protection Institute in Sargodha has formally begun its operations.
She stated that the institute will provide residential facilities, legal assistance, and psychological counselling to destitute, abandoned, and abused children, adding that the institute has the capacity to accommodate up to 100 children.
Sarah Ahmed further announced that public awareness campaigns will be launched in Sargodha to promote the protection of children’s rights and welfare, while the scope of the Child Protection Bureau is being expanded to all districts of Punjab.
She also thanked Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for the approval of Punjab’s first-ever Child Protection Policy, and acknowledged the support of the Chief Secretary Punjab, Secretary Interior, and other departments in establishing Child Protection Bureau offices across the province.
On the occasion, children presented a tableau performance.
Provincial Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth along with Chairperson Sarah Ahmed also visited various sections of the Child Protection Institute.
