MULTAN, Oct 22 (APP):All patients visiting Nishtar Hospital are being provided 100 per cent free medicines in line with the Punjab government’s vision, Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Rao Amjad Ali Khan said on Wednesday.
He told APP that Nishtar Hospital — the largest medical facility in South Punjab — offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment facilities under one roof. “Patients from Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan also seek treatment here due to our modern infrastructure, skilled staff, and high-quality medical services,” he added.
The MS said the hospital’s Outpatient Department (OPD) caters to an average of 4,000 to 4,500 patients daily, while the Emergency Department treats around 1,500 to 2,000 patients every 24 hours. Over 40 specialized indoor units are fully functional, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, with cardiology and other key departments delivering outstanding performance.
Under the Punjab Chief Minister’s healthcare initiative, all admitted and visiting patients are receiving medicines completely free of cost, he said.
Dr. Amjad informed that a fully automated laboratory testing system has been introduced, greatly enhancing the accuracy and reliability of diagnostic services. To improve oversight and management, a modern monitoring center has also been established, featuring nine LCD screens that enable real-time surveillance of hundreds of wards and rooms.
“All hospital systems have been digitized, and integration with the Specialized Healthcare Department is underway to ensure direct monitoring and efficient coordination,” he added.
He further highlighted the introduction of an E-tag parking system, allowing automatic vehicle entry and strengthening security within hospital premises.
Dr. Amjad concluded that Nishtar Hospital is ensuring quality, timely, and safe treatment for every patient through close coordination among all departments — reflecting the Punjab government’s commitment to providing accessible, equitable, and modern healthcare to all citizens.
