All minorities enjoy equal rights in Pakistan: Kh Salman

LAHORE, Jan 01 (APP): Punjab Health Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that all minorities in Pakistan enjoy equal and fundamental rights, and the government is committed to safeguarding their religious and social freedoms.
He expressed these views during his visit to Nawalkha Presbyterian Church on Thursday, where a family fair was also inaugurated. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said, “Thank God, a peaceful Christmas has passed due to the hard work and coordinated efforts of all concerned departments.”
Khawaja Salman Rafique stated that, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the provincial government stands shoulder to shoulder with the Christian community in sharing their joys and celebrations. “Pakistan belongs to everyone, and our joys and sorrows are shared. Alhamdulillah, the Christmas festival concluded peacefully because of the collective efforts of all departments,” he added.
The minister further emphasized that the Punjab government is actively promoting interfaith harmony across the province to ensure mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among all religious communities.
On the occasion, Reverend Majeed Abel paid tribute to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the provincial cabinet for ensuring peaceful Christmas celebrations throughout Punjab. He said that the Punjab government truly cares for and supports minority communities.
During the visit, Khawaja Salman Rafique visited various stalls set up at the fair and also cut the New Year cake. Reverend Dr. Majeed Abel, Tahir Chaudhry, Javed Khan, Immanuel Pervez, and other notable figures were also present at the event.
