AJK President urges for concerted efforts to frustrate India’s nefarious designs

MIRPUR (AJK): Feb 26 (APP): Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry Saturday called for making concerted efforts to foil India’s nefarious designs in occupied Kashmir. “The onus of responsibility lies on our shoulders to sensitize the international community about the Modi government’s hegemonic designs intended to reduce Muslims to second class citizens in their own motherland”,

the AJK president said this while talking to renowned author Victoria Sheffield who called on him at the President House at Jammu Kashmir House in the federal metropolis on Saturday, AJK President’s office later told APP’s AJK Correspondent Saturday evening.

Briefing the visiting guest about the present situation in the region, Barrister Sultan said, “Indian government is engaged in its conspiracies to change the demographic complexion of the Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) by settling outsiders in the state”.

He said that the political and human rights situation in the IIoJK has further deteriorated after the BJP government unilaterally repealed Articles 370 and 35A on August 5, 2019. Since then, the President said, the Indian authorities have issued fake domiciles to 4.2 million non-state subjects besides leasing thousands of kanals of land to outsiders.

“Issuing fake domicile certificates and leasing land to outsiders is part of the BJP’s dangerous game plan aimed at changing population ratio to outnumber Muslims who happen to be the largest community in the state”, Barrister Chaudhary said. He said that the people of IIOJK were trapped in a serious situation as there has been an immense increase in incidents of violence and human rights violations.

In such a situation, the president said, there was a dire need to redouble efforts to make sure that the voices emanating from the IIOJK were heard at the international level to thwart India’s intentions.

Pertinently, the internationally renowned author Victoria Schofield has been working globally for a long time to highlight the Kashmir issue. She has also written a book on Kashmir, “Kashmir in Cross Fire” in which the author had shed light on the different dimensions of the Kashmir dispute.

Meanwhile, President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir State Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry on Saturday left for Dubai on a four-day visit to the United Arab Emirates.

During his stay in Dubai, the AJK present is scheduled to address a gathering of the Kashmiri Diaspora community at the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai on February 27 at 4 pm, AJK President office announced Saturday evening.
