RAWALPINDI, Oct 21 (APP):Additional Inspector General (AIG) Gender Crime Cell, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Aneela Naz, paid a visit to the Meesaq and Tahafuz Centers in bid to review their operations.
DSP Admin Shahida Yasmeen welcomed the distinguished guest.
During the visit, DSP Shahida Yasmeen briefed the AIG on the overall functioning, objectives, of the Meesaq Centers established in Cantt and New Town.
She explained that these centers were set up under the vision of the Punjab Police to protect the rights of minorities and provide them with a safe place to report their concerns. The DSP further stated that the protection of minorities’ rights and ensuring their social inclusion remain among the top priorities of the Rawalpindi Police.
DSP Shahida Yasmeen added that the centers have been providing multiple facilities including legal guidance, social welfare support, and psychological counseling under one roof.
Later, AIG Aneela Naz visited the Tahafuz Center, where she reviewed the services being provided to women, children, and minorities facing domestic violence, harassment, or social injustice.
She interacted with the staff and appreciated their dedication and professionalism in serving vulnerable segments of society.
Expressing her satisfaction, AIG Aneela Naz lauded the efforts of the Punjab Police and said that the Meesaq and Tahafuz Centers are excellent examples of community-oriented policing.
She also announced that similar centers will soon be established in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following the successful model implemented in Punjab. “The positive outcomes of the Meesaq and Tahafuz Centers in Punjab have inspired us to replicate this initiative in our province, so that minorities and vulnerable individuals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa can also benefit from these services,” she added.
