ABBOTTABAD, Feb 01 (APP):Pakistan Muslim League (N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa General Secretary Murtaza Javed Abbasi won the appreciation of local residents as, through his personal efforts, the Communication and Works (C&W) Department reopened the road linking the tourist destination of Thandiani–Ukhrila–Andarsiri, which had remained closed for fourteen days due to heavy snowfall.
During the prolonged road blockage, residents of the affected areas faced severe hardships. The closure disrupted daily life, leading to acute shortages of essential food items, medicines, and firewood.
Patients requiring medical attention encountered serious difficulties, while families struggled to cope with the cold due to the lack of fuel for heating.
According to locals, repeated appeals were made for the clearance of the road, as the snowfall had cut off the area from the rest of the district.
The reopening of the road has restored connectivity, eased the supply of essential commodities, and brought much-needed relief to the stranded population.
Residents expressed hope that timely measures would be taken in the future to prevent such prolonged disruptions during harsh weather conditions.
