LAHORE, Dec 01 (APP): A delegation of the Association of Former Inspectors General of Police (AFIGP) Punjab Chapter visited the Central Police Office (CPO) Lahore on Monday, where they held detailed consultations with Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar on security, policy matters, police training, service delivery, and ongoing reforms in the department.
The delegation was led by President AFIGP Punjab Chapter and former IG Punjab Ahmad Naseem, accompanied by General Secretary and former Additional IG Ghalib Bandesha, and former IGs Captain (R) Arif Nawaz Khan, Tariq Khosa, and Altaf Qamar, along with other senior retired officers and office-bearers of the Association.
Upon their arrival, Additional IG South Punjab Muhammad Kamran Khan, DIG Establishment-I Suleman Sultan Rana, AIG Admin & Security Dr Asad Ijaz Malhi, and senior officers of the CPO received the delegation.
IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar welcomed the former police chiefs and congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of the Association.
During the meeting, a broad range of issues relating to the province’s security environment, maintenance of state writ, policing strategies, policy reforms, capacity-building, training standards, and public service delivery mechanisms were discussed in detail.
According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, the meeting also reviewed matters pertaining to promotions, welfare initiatives, and institutional strengthening within the force.
The former IGs appreciated the significant improvements undertaken by the current Punjab Police leadership in various domains and paid tribute to the sacrifices of police martyrs in combating terrorism and establishing lasting peace in the province.
IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar said the guidance, experience, and institutional understanding of former IGs have played an important role in advancing professional standards and accelerating reform initiatives within the force. He added that collaborative engagement with former senior officers provides valuable direction for improving policing and service delivery.
AFIGP President Ahmad Naseem announced that the Association will organise regular seminars and specialised training sessions aimed at enhancing professional skills, improving training quality, and further grooming police personnel.
