PESHAWAR, Oct 29 (APP):Afghan refugees attempting to return to their homeland have been stranded at various locations across Khyber district due to closure of Pakistan-Afghanistan border crossings at Torkham.
According to district admin, the Pak-Afghan border has remained closed for more than two weeks, leaving thousands of Afghan refugees unable to proceed toward Afghanistan or return to their previous locations within Pakistan.
Many refugees, including women, children and the elderly are stuck in trucks along deserted stretches near the Torkham crossing, enduring harsh conditions. The cold nights have caused illness among the displaced individuals, while food and water shortages have worsened their suffering.
Although some charitable organizations occasionally distribute food, refugees continue to appeal to authorities for permission to cross the Torkham border and return home.
