MANSEHRA, Jul 30 (APP):In a major development for healthcare in the region, King Abdullah Teaching Hospital (KATH) Mansehra on Wednesday began conducting regular surgeries for brain tumors using advanced microscopic techniques.
This new facility is not only a milestone for Mansehra but also a significant relief for patients from remote areas of the Hazara Division who previously had to travel long distances or wait for treatment at Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH) in Abbottabad.
On July 29, 2025, a complex brain tumor was successfully removed through microscopic surgery at KATH, showcasing the hospital’s growing neurosurgical capabilities. The surgery was carried out by a dedicated team of neurosurgeons, including Dr. Bilal Ahmad and Dr. Nafees Ahmad, whose skills and commitment have been appreciated.
The initiative has been made possible through the leadership of Medical Superintendent Dr. Haleem Tanoli, whose continuous efforts have ensured the provision of state-of-the-art equipment, essential medications, and other critical facilities needed for such complex operations. Dr. Tanoli is actively working to make the Neurosurgery Department at KATH fully functional and self-reliant.
This advancement is expected to significantly reduce the patient load on ATH Abbottabad and bring life-saving services closer to the underserved populations of upper and lower Kohistan, Battagram, Torghar, and other remote parts of the Hazara Division.
The administration of King Abdullah Hospital expressed gratitude to all medical professionals and supporting staff whose hard work has made this essential service a reality for the people of the region.
