BAHAWALPUR, Nov 04 (APP): Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) General Bahawalpur, Muhammad Tayyab, has directed officers and staff of the Agriculture (Extension) Department to play an active and dynamic role in line with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision. He emphasized the importance of guiding and supporting farmers under the “Grow More Wheat” campaign to increase per-acre yield and contribute to strengthening the national economy through enhanced wheat production.
Muhammad Tayyab expressed these views while presiding over a review meeting on the “Grow More Wheat” campaign, held at the DC Office Bahawalpur’s Committee Room.
He stated that the wheat sowing season has officially begun, and both Agriculture and Revenue Department officers must ensure that farmers are well-informed about maximizing wheat cultivation on both government and private lands. He instructed the agriculture staff and agricultural graduates to visit fields and educate farmers on the proper use of certified seeds and balanced fertilizers to meet the production targets.
The ADC General further directed that farmers should be made aware of the government’s agricultural welfare programs, enabling them to fully benefit from these initiatives.
During the meeting, Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension) Muhammad Shafiq provided a briefing, stating that the wheat cultivation target for Bahawalpur district has been set at 761,000 acres, with sowing already underway across the district. He also assured that there are ample supplies of certified seeds and fertilizers, and that Agriculture Extension officers and staff are actively assisting farmers in the field.
