ADC chairs meeting review meeting regarding performance of anti-polio campaign

HYDERABAD, Oct 06 (APP):Additional Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Saddam Hussain Memon, chaired a review meeting regarding the performance of special anti-polio campaign held last September at Darbar Hall of Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
The meeting reviewed the achievement of assigned targets, performance of polio teams, administration of polio drops to children, and issues faced during the campaign.
Officers from the Health Department, Polio Programme, UCMOs, focal persons of polio teams and other concerned departments attended the meeting. During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted of the district’s performance against the targets set for special anti-polio campaign.
Health Department officials briefed the meeting about children who were administered polio drops, identification of missed children, engagement with parents who refused vaccination, migrant populations, and access of teams to remote and other sensitive areas.
Officials informed meeting that the district achieved 100 percent results during the special anti-polio campaign. Speaking on the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Saddam Hussain Memon said that complete eradication of polio was a national responsibility and all relevant departments must work through effective coordination and an integrated strategy to achieve this objective.
He directed that children missed during the previous campaign and areas with low coverage should be identified and given special attention during the next campaign. He further directed that performance of polio teams be regularly monitored and that issues faced by field teams be resolved promptly so that the assigned targets could be achieved 100 percent.
He also emphasized that Health Department, district administration, Education Department, Information Department and other relevant institutions should play an effective role in creating awareness among parents about the importance of polio vaccination.
