PESHAWAR, Dec 23 (APP):The provincial government has identified around 1,000 illegal petrol pumps across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the provincial capital and has decided to take strict action against them.
According to details on Tuesday, the KP government has issued directives to district administrations to launch an immediate crackdown on unregistered and illegal petrol pumps operating in their respective areas.
Sources said that many of these illegal outlets pose serious safety risks, as they are often located near residential areas, busy markets and commercial centers.
It was revealed that smuggled or substandard petroleum products are being sold at these locations, while most of the mini petrol pumps lack legal permits and fail to follow safety regulations.
The growing number of such illegal pumps in densely populated areas of Peshawar has raised serious concerns among citizens.
The provincial government has instructed all Deputy Commissioners to carry out indiscriminate action against illegal petrol pumps and has also ordered relevant departments to further strengthen monitoring to prevent potential accidents and threats to public safety.
