BAHAWALPUR, Aug 28 (APP):Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab Fuad Hashim Rabbani made an emergency visit to Hasilpur to monitor flood situation.
He inspected the flood relief camps and reviewed the flow of floodwater at the Islam Headworks. Special Secretary Agriculture Sarfraz Khan Magsi, Special Secretary Irrigation Ijaz Khaliq Razzaqi, Special Secretary C&W Aftab Pirzada, Special Secretary Health Shehbaz Hussain, Special Secretary Livestock Asad Naeem, Additional Secretary Admin Abdul Saboor Thakur, and Staff Officer Ghulam Sarwar accompanied him.
Speaking on the occasion, the Additional Chief Secretary said that the government stands with the people in this difficult time. He said that evacuation of people from the riverine area is essential to avoid loss of life. Fuad Hashim Rabbani said that relief and medical camps have been set up on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. An emergency has been implemented in hospitals and emergency rescue holidays have been canceled. He said that the administration will remain in the field from rescue and relief to the rehabilitation of flood victims. He appealed to the public to cooperate with the administration to move to safer places to avoid any loss of life. Fuad Hashim Rabbani further said that the Irrigation Department is monitoring the water situation in the rivers moment by moment and patrolling the protective dams day and night.
On this occasion, the Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab was briefed that 1400 people have been evacuated to safe places in Tehsil Hasilpur. The vaccination of livestock has been completed, while snake bite vaccine is also available in the flood camps and all concerned departments have established their camps on the flood bund. In the briefing, it was told that 54 thousand cusecs of water is passing through Islam Headworks built on the Sutlej River.
