RAWALPINDI, Oct 07 (APP):A Drug Court has sentenced an accused to a total of 8 years in prison and a fine of Rs. 26.0 million in a case involving the illegal manufacturing and sale of medicines.
According to the details the Judge Muhammad Faisal Butt, along with Technical Members Dr. Azhar Ali Haider and Shahid Zafar, delivered the verdict in Case No. 4223/DC/RWP/22. The case was based on FIR No. 07/21 registered at Waris Khan police station.
According to the verdict, the accused, Abdul Razzaq owner of ‘Badshah Di Hatti’ located at Bohar Bazaar was sentenced to 5 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1.0 million for illegally manufacturing and selling therapy products without Forms 6 and 7. In case of non-payment of the fine, the accused will face an additional 15 months in jail.
Moreover, the accused was also sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25.0 million for selling medicines without registration, with an additional nine months in jail if the fine is not paid.
The court directed that both sentences will run concurrently, while the convict will be granted the benefit of time already served in jail under Section 382-B.
As per the judicial order, the convict has been transferred to Adyala Jail to serve his sentence.
