AC seals shops, cracks down on profiteering, Illegal LPG filling

ATTOCK, Feb 23 (APP):On the directions of Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a crackdown against profiteering, illegal LPG refuel-ling in vehicles and unlawful petrol pump businesses on Monday was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza.
As part of the campaign, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Attock, Muhammad Arif Qureshi visited various localities including Civil Bazaar Attock, Peoples Colony (Awan Sharif), Haji Shah, Boota and Gondal.
During inspections, a butcher’s shop was sealed for selling beef at rates higher than the official price, while other traders were fined.
In Haji Shah, a shop was sealed for illegally filling LPG gas into vehicles.
In Gondal, penalties were imposed on vendors for overcharging and for not displaying rate lists.
In Dhok Fatah (Attock city), four shops were sealed for illegal LPG refueling in vehicles. In village Boota, an illegal petrol agency operating on the main road at Fateh Jang was also sealed.
Overall, fines amounting to Rs 110,000 were imposed.
Talking to the media, AC Muhammad Arif Qureshi said the drive against profiteering and illegal businesses would continue under the leadership of DC Rao Atif Raza.
He urged traders to sell essential commodities during Ramzan strictly at government-notified rates, adding that violators would face not only fines but also registration of FIRs
