ABBOTTABAD, Jun 14 (APP):District Administration Abbottabad has released a detailed laboratory report of milk samples collected from various milk shops across Tehsil Havelian, including Jhangi and adjoining areas. The move aims to ensure the provision of safe and quality milk to citizens through strict monitoring and inspection.
According to the report, a total of 22 milk samples were collected by the administration in coordination with the Livestock Department for laboratory testing. Out of these, 12 samples were found to be substandard or illegal due to the presence of added water and low fat content, while 9 samples were found to be in compliance with quality standards. One sample remained under review in the overall classification.
The testing results revealed widespread irregularities in several milk shops, where adulteration through added water was detected ranging from 7 percent to as high as 45 percent. In some cases, the fat content of milk dropped significantly to as low as 2.57 percent, indicating poor quality and non-compliance with required standards. However, a number of shops were also found supplying milk that met the prescribed quality benchmarks, with fat content recorded above 4.5 percent and marked as satisfactory.
Following the findings, the district administration has initiated action against those involved in the sale of substandard milk and reiterated that inspection drives will continue across the district to ensure public health safety and availability of quality dairy products.
Citizens have also been urged to report complaints regarding milk quality to the District Control Room for prompt action. The contact number provided for complaints is 0992-9310553. The administration has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining food safety standards and ensuring strict enforcement under ongoing governance reforms.
