LAHORE, Jul 09 (APP):The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Punjab has achieved a significant milestone by enrolling 238,673 children under the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif Programme during the second quarter of 2025 (April to June), successfully reaching 99 per cent of its targeted enrollment of 240,000 children.
According to a BISP spokesperson on Wednesday, this achievement reflects the programme’s continued commitment to promoting education among the children of underprivileged families across the province.
Under the Taleemi Wazaif scheme, boys receive monthly stipends of Rs 2,000 at the primary level, Rs 3,000 at the secondary level, and Rs 4,000 at the higher secondary level. For girls, the stipends are higher — Rs 2,500, Rs 3,500, and Rs 4,500, respectively.
Additionally, a graduation bonus of Rs 3,000 is awarded to girls who complete primary school, an incentive aimed at increasing female educational attainment.
During the second quarter, 196,648 children were enrolled at the primary level, 38,386 at the secondary level, and 3,639 at the higher secondary level across Punjab. These figures are the result of joint efforts by BISP field teams and the Punjab Education Department, which worked collaboratively to mobilize families and facilitate access to education.
The BISP officials reaffirmed their dedication to expanding the programme’s reach and enhancing monitoring mechanisms to ensure consistent school attendance — a key condition for eligibility, which requires a minimum of 70 per cent attendance.
The Benazir Taleemi Wazaif Programme is a core component of  the BISP, Pakistan’s flagship social safety initiative aimed at poverty alleviation and empowerment of marginalized communities. Through educational support, the programme is helping build a brighter future for thousands of children across the country.
