LAHORE, Sep 08 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has initiated an unprecedented health relief operation in flood-affected areas, deploying 968 “Clinic-on-Wheels” units and medical relief camps to serve victims across the province.
The drive prioritises women, children, and newborns, ensuring comprehensive medical care during the country’s worst flood crisis.
A dedicated maternal and child healthcare programme has been launched under her directions. Pregnant women are receiving regular check-ups from doctors and paramedics, while multivitamins, sanitary kits, and essential supplies are being provided in every relief camp. To ensure timely care, a round-the-clock Rural Ambulance Service has also been deployed to transport expectant mothers to Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics and hospitals.
Specialist doctors are visiting camps daily for children’s treatment, and routine vaccination of newborns is underway. Relief camps are fully equipped for treatment of insect bites, skin infections, diarrhea, cholera, and malaria.
On the CM’s instructions, sufficient stocks of ORS, antibiotics, and essential medicines have been supplied. Screening and treatment for malnourished children are also being carried out across camps.
CM Maryam Nawaz said that the Punjab government would continue to stand with flood victims until their complete rehabilitation.
