MULTAN, Dec 16 (APP): At least 85 citizens have so far been extended justice in Multan after their properties were retrieved from illegal occupation under the Punjab government’s newly enforced Property Protection Ordinance 2025, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nauman Siddiq said on Tuesday.
Presiding over a meeting of the Property Recovery Committee, the deputy commissioner said the ordinance is a historic step aimed at curbing land grabbing, fake identities, bogus sale deeds and fraudulent mapping. During the meeting, 28 properties were vacated on the spot after hearing both parties, while dozens of pending cases were disposed of within record time.
He said district committees have been directed to decide all property-related cases within 90 days. An online complaint system has also been activated to facilitate citizens in reporting land-grabbing cases without hindrance.
Under the ordinance, illegal occupation carries five to ten years’ imprisonment along with heavy fines, he said, stressing that police and revenue authorities are carrying out indiscriminate action against land mafia to ensure protection of citizens’ property rights.
