8,000 litres of adulterated milk destroyed in PFA-IFA joint operation

RAWALPINDI, Feb 24 (APP): Punjab Food Authority (PFA) and Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) have seized 8,000 litres of adulterated milk in a joint operation and destroyed the contaminated product on site.
A spokesperson for the authorities said the recent raid, carried out at I-10 Industrial Estate on the basis of confidential intelligence, recovered 336 litres of oil, 240 kilograms of vanaspati ghee, 350 kilograms of powdered milk and machinery used to produce fake milk.
The adulterated milk was reportedly being prepared from powdered milk and vanaspati ghee and was intended for supply in the twin cities during Ramazan.
The PFA and IFA have so far conducted 28 joint operations and destroyed 22,000 litres of adulterated milk, the spokesperson added, noting that enforcement in Punjab had pushed adulteration mafias towards Islamabad.
The joint operations aim to ensure the supply of safe and quality milk in the twin cities, authorities said. Citizens were urged to report any complaints to the helpline at 1223.
