LAHORE, Jun 12 (APP):Eight people were killed and 1,648 others injured in 1,400 road accidents in Punjab during the last 24 hours.
As many as 731 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 917 with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by the rescue medical teams.
The data analysis showed that 894 drivers, 66 underage drivers, 169 pedestrians and 593 passengers were among the victims of road crashes. The statistics show that 244 accidents were reported in Lahore, which affected 296 people, placing the provincial capital at top of the list, followed by Faisalabad with 88 accidents and 97 victims, and at third Gujranwala with 75 accidents and 81 victims.
According to the data, 1,344 motorbikes, 84 auto-rickshaws, 191 motorcars, 25 vans, six passenger buses, 19 trucks and 105 other types of vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the road accidents.
