LAHORE, Jul 16 (APP):Punjab Police have arrested 75,694 suspects wanted in serious criminal cases during a province-wide crackdown on proclaimed offenders (POs) and court absconders so far this year.
A Punjab Police spokesperson said that out of the total, 26,280 were Category-A and 49,414 were Category-B POs, apprehended from various parts of the province.
In addition, police arrested 31,174 court absconders, including 6,782 Category-A and 24,392 Category-B criminals.
Police also rounded up 16,546 habitual offenders, of whom 6,311 were classified as Category-A and 10,235 as Category-B.
In Lahore, police apprehended 16,353 POs, 12,316 court absconders and 6,657 habitual criminals during operations this year.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab lauded the performance of police teams involved in the successful arrests and directed them to continue the crackdown with greater intensity across all districts.
The IGP emphasized maintaining close coordination with complainants and effective intelligence sharing to bring dangerous criminals to justice. He further instructed Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to personally supervise operations against high-profile fugitives.
