LAHORE, Oct 21 (APP):The Lahore district administration has intensified grand anti-encroachment operations across the city in line with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision to make the provincial capital clean, organized, and free from illegal structures under the “Suthra Punjab” campaign.
On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza, large-scale operations were conducted in multiple areas, resulting in the removal of 743 encroachments and confiscation of seized goods. Teams from the district administration and the Metropolitan Corporation’s Regulation Wing jointly led the operations to reclaim public spaces.
During the drives, 1,945 illegal banners and flex signs were immediately removed, while in Tehsil Nishtar, around 80 permanent unauthorized constructions, including shops and sheds, were demolished. Encroachments around Kahna Vegetable Market were also cleared, and hundreds of temporary structures and stalls were dismantled.
A successful operation was also carried out from Hadyara Drain to Gajjumata, aimed at improving traffic flow and restoring access to public areas.
Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza said the purpose of these operations was to ensure smooth traffic movement and provide greater convenience to citizens. He directed assistant commissioners to intensify anti-encroachment efforts in all identified hotspots, ensuring the immediate removal of obstacles affecting public mobility.
“The campaign will continue without interruption until the last illegal structure is removed,” the DC said, adding that all actions were being taken without discrimination as the law is equal for everyone. He said the drive was part of the government’s efforts to make Lahore a clean, beautiful, and encroachment-free city under the Chief Minister’s “Suthra Punjab” vision. Citizens have been advised to register complaints regarding encroachments through the control room at 0307-0002345.
