739 encroachments, 3,540 illegal banners removed

LAHORE, Oct 29 (APP):On the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Lahore district administration and Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) continued a large-scale anti-encroachment operation under the Suthra Punjab campaign.
During the ongoing drive, the MCL Regulation Wing cleared 739 encroachments across various parts of the city, while 3,540 illegal banners and flexes were removed to improve the city’s visual environment. All confiscated materials were taken into custody. The operation aims to restore public spaces, ensure smooth traffic flow, and enhance the city’s cleanliness and aesthetics.
Deputy Commissioner Musa Raza directed that all encroachments obstructing roads and footpaths be removed immediately and that the campaign against visual pollution continue without interruption. He emphasized strict enforcement of regulations in commercial areas and markets to maintain public convenience.
The DC said that the administration is determined to make Lahore an encroachment-free, clean, and beautiful city, and that the drive will continue indiscriminately until all illegal structures are cleared. Citizens can register complaints or provide information regarding encroachments through the DC Lahore Control Room at 0307-0002345, he added.
Meanwhile, the district administration has intensified its crackdown on hoarding and overpricing, leading to a noticeable drop in the prices of various vegetables and fruits. Teams of Price Control Magistrates are conducting daily inspections to ensure enforcement of official rate lists. The price of tomatoes and peas has decreased by Rs 10 per kg, potatoes by Rs 3, and green chilies by Rs 5. DC Syed Musa Raza directed strict action against profiteers, reaffirming zero tolerance for violations and urging citizens to report complaints through the DC Control Room at 0307-0002345.
