69 illegal Afghans detained in Sabzi Mandi operation: ICT Police

ISLAMABAD, Nov 05 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police shifted 69 Afghan nationals unlawfully residing in Pakistan during a grand search and combing operation conducted in the jurisdiction of Sabzi Mandi police station, aimed at curbing criminal elements and strengthening security across the federal capital.
An official told APP on Wednesday that prior to the operation, police teams were properly briefed on the security plan. A total of 221 individuals, 65 shops, 31 vehicles and 43 motorcycles were checked during the operation, while 69 Afghan nationals lacking legal documents were detained and shifted to the police station for legal proceedings.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of SSP Operations Muhammad Shoaib Khan, following the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi to ensure public safety.
Senior police officers including SP Saddar, SP Industrial Area Zone, SDPO Shahzad Town Circle, along with ladies police personnel, also participated in the search and combing drive.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG)  Muhammad Jawad Tariq said that the purpose of such operations is to tighten the security cordon around criminal elements and enhance overall security arrangements in Islamabad.
He added that indiscriminate action against criminals, land grabbers, drug traffickers and illegal residents will continue.
