66 food outlets fined during Ramazan inspections

SIALKOT, Mar 03 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) inspected 1,211 food points across the district during Ramazan and imposed fines of Rs 914,000 on 66 outlets over violations of hygiene and food safety rules.
According to the PFA spokesperson, two food points were sealed for serious violations, while over five maunds of expired and banned food items were discarded.
On the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, strict monitoring of Ramazan dastarkhwans in Sialkot, Daska and Sambrial is also under way.
Food safety teams were working in three shifts to ensure provision of safe and quality food during Sehr and Iftar, the spokesperson added.
