613 proclaimed offenders arrested during October

FAISALABAD, Nov 05 (APP):The police claimed to have arrested 613 proclaimed offenders and dozens of other criminals during extensive operations conducted during the last month.
Police Spokesperson Tariq Jutt said on Wednesday that the district police carried out coordinated operations across various police stations which resulted in the arrest of 388 Category-A and 225 Category-B proclaimed offenders in addition to nabbing 535 court absconders.
He said that the police also launched a decisive crackdown on gambling and betting networks and arrested 291 accused in multiple raids. As many as 107 cases were also registered against them under relevant sections of the law, he added.
He said during these operations, the police recovered Rs 1.144 million in gambling stakes in addition to seizing playing cards, betting slips, ledgers and other related materials.
He said that the police also intensified operations against drug traffickers and arrested 422 drug traffickers.
The police also recovered large quantities of narcotics, including 139.055 kilograms (kg) hashish, 23.090 kg ice (crystal meth), 59.430 kg heroin, 350 liters Lahan (un-distilled wine) and 7,066 liters Liquor from their possession.
In another major development, the police took firm action against illegal weapon holders and arrested 294 accused along with 294 pistols, 7 Kalashnikoves, 8 rifles, 5 shotguns, 17 repeaters, 2 carbines and a large quantity of ammunition and cartridges, he added.
