6 illegal arms holders put behind bars as ICT Police tighten crackdown

ISLAMABAD, Feb 09 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have intensified their crackdown against illegal arms, arresting six accused and recovering a large cache of unlawful weapons during targeted operations in the federal capital.
An official told APP on Monday that the arrests were made under special directives aimed at curbing the menace of illegal weapons and ensuring the safety of citizens.
The official said the operation was carried out under the supervision of SP Rural Muhammad Zeeshan and SDPO Bhara Kahu Circle Shams Akbar, while the police team led by SHO Phulgran Muhammad Zubair Mazhar Iqbal successfully apprehended the accused and put them in handcuffs.
During the operation, a heavy quantity of illegal arms was recovered from the possession of the arrested suspects, he added.
According to police, the arrested accused include Abdul Qayyum son of Murad Ali, Zeeshan son of Syed Nawaz Khan, and Muhammad Noman son of Makhan, along with other suspects. Prohibited and illegal weapons were seized from their custody.
Separate cases were registered against the accused under FIR No. 42/26, 43/26 and 44/26 dated February 9, 2026, under sections 13/20/65 of the Arms Ordinance. The accused will be produced before the court of competent jurisdiction for further legal proceedings.
Local residents and members of civil society welcomed the successful operation and appreciated Islamabad Police for their effective action against illegal arms.
Police officials reiterated that indiscriminate action against those possessing illegal weapons will continue, adding that Islamabad Police remain committed to protecting citizens’ lives and property and to making the federal capital free from unlawful arms.
