MULTAN, Oct 31 (APP): Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco), Engineer Gull Muhammad Zahid said on Friday that a sum of 383 million was spent to upgrade 557 transformers of varied capacities throughout Multan region, comprising 13 south Punjab districts, at a cost of Rs 383 million to ensure uninterrupted power supply to consumers maintaining better voltage.
Addressing a meeting of officers via video link, he said the company took up the issues of low voltage, line losses and overloading in all the districts on priority this year with a view to harmonize the system capabilities with modern trends.
He said, special training programs were being devised for technical staff to ensure operational excellence and speedy faults rectification.
The CEO Mepco said that ongoing projects in 13 districts of Multan region comprised replacement of old transformers, expansion of grid stations, and Re-Conductoring of HT and LT lines.
He said, 45 transformers were upgraded in Multan circle from July to Oct 2025 at a cost of Rs 29.5 million, Rs 4 million in DG Khan for four transformers, Rs 190 million in Vehari to upgrade 233 transformers, Rs 30 million to upgrade 46 transformers in Bahawalpur, Rs 1.9 million for four transformers in Sahiwal, Rs 21 million for 31 transformers in Rahimyar Khan, Rs 56.4 million to upgrade 118 transformers in Muzaffargarh, Rs 25.2 million to upgrade 33 transformers in Bahawalnagar, and Rs 23.9 million to upgrade 40 transformers in Khanewal circle.
